Tourism in San Romano in Garfagnana

The Medieval village of San Romano in Garfagnana

The village of San Romano in Garfagnana saves untouched the original aspect of its foundation, showing the typical Medieval architectural characteristics in the houses and in the stone-made paved roads in the historic centre.

Of the ancient fortification, the "Fortress of the Verrucole" is the only one showing a perfect state of conservation.

Once the fortress consisted of two other fortress, facing each other, and later they were united by building two curtains of walls.

Once the fortress placed in the north side was the residence of the lords of the village.

Close to the village rises the "Park of the Orecchiella", to whose inside there is a museum illustrating the cycle of life and the environments of the all faunal species hosted in the park, extending this latter on five thousand two hundred hectares surface of wood vegetation.
