The Saints Ippolito and Donato Parish in Bibbiena

The Saints Ippolito and Donato Parish was founded around the XII-th century and then it subdued numerous structural modifications that leaded to its actual forms.

The Parish was built on the plant of a Greek cross but during the XIV-th century, after subduing many damages, it was enlarged and restored according to the plant of a Latin cross with just an aisle.

Of the original building only the earth-made archs of the apse and the transept remain today.

The interiors of the Saints Ippolito and Donato Parish are decorated with numerous frescoes and made precious by fine art works.

On the right wall it is possible to admire a fourteenth-century cross painted by the Master of San Polo in Rosso.

In the right transept there are two plates, one of them portrays the "Annunciation" painted by Giovanni Balducci, called the "Cosci" (1560-1603), whereas the other one portrays an "Our Lady on the Throne with the Child and Angels" painted by Cola da Camerino.

In the left transept it is possible to admire a painting portraying an "Our Lady with the Child and the Saints Michael and Anthony Abbot", painted by Jacopo Ligozzi (1547-1627).

Very interesting is also a triptych painted by Bicci di Lorenzo (1373-1452) placed close to the main altar, portraying an "Our Lady with the Child and the Saints Ippolito, John Baptist, Donato and Christopher".
