The Medieval village of Montemignaio The village of Montemignaio rises in the green belt of a rich wood vegetation of chestnut-trees, still saving today its original Medieval beauty. In the highest part of the village it is possible to admire the remains of the imposing Castle built during the XII-th century by the Guidi's Counts, named "Lion Castle". In the very heart of historic centre rises the Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish, built during the XI-th century. The interior shows the typical Romanic style, enriched with finely decorated capitals. Inside the Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish it is also possible to admire numerous paintings like an "Our Lady with the Child", named "Madonna delle Calle" (Our Lady of the Paths), painted by Giovanni Toscani (1370-1430), and an "Our Lady on the Throne with the Child and four Saint Doctors of the Church". Very valuable is also an earthenware made by Benedetto Buglioni (1459-1521), portraying an "Our Lady on the Throne with the Child and the Saints Anthony Abbot and Sebastiane".
