The Medieval village of Subbiano

The oldest part of the village of Subbiano shows the characteristic marks of its original Medieval building, despite of important urban expansion recently occurred.

The castle shows its original structure in a good conservation state, also thanks to a recent restoration that refitted its ancient tower. This latter shows a square shape and it is equipped with brackets and merlons.

Close to the castle rises the Saint Mary of the Visitation Church, whose building goes back to the XIII-th century. It was restored along the XVII-th and XVIII-th century.

Inside the religious building it is possible to admire some fine frescoes, among them those ones painted by Giovanni Bassan portraying a "Mary's Crowning" and a "Deposition".

Very remarkable is a wooden Crucifix dating back to the XVII-th century, placed in the apse.
