The Medici's Villa of Cerreto Guidi

The Medici's Villa was built in the middle of the XVI-th century for the will of the Grand Duke Cosimo I of Medici on a design of the famous architect Bernardo Buontalenti (1536-1608).

The housing estate is placed in the highest part of the town, close to the Montalbano mount.

It is preceded by a wide and rich garden and it is possible to enter the villa by using the two imposing flights of stairs called "Medici's Bridges".

Once entered the Medici's Villa it is possible to admire the numerous frescoes in Neoclassical style painting the walls of the rooms on the ground floor, like some "Sights of other villas" by Ruggero Focardi (1864-1934).

Today the Medici's Villa hosts a museal collection of numerous paintings dating back to different times, portraying the Medici's Grand Dukes as well as the "Hostorical Museum of the Hunting and the Territory", whose inside it is possible to admire a collection of hunting guns dating back to the XVIII - XIX-th centuries.
