Tourism in Firenzuola

The Medieval village of Firenzuola

The village of Firenzuola rises on a high position, surrounded by a rich vegetation. It still saves today the typical features of its original Medieval buildings, visible both in the remains of its ancient fortifications and in the rural houses and in the serene stone-made roads.

In the highest part of the town rises the ancient Fortress, whose building goes back to the XIV-th century. Along the centuries it was restored in order to bring it back to its original aspect and today it is used as the seat of the Municipal offices.

In the underground of the fortress is located the "Museum of the Serene Stone" that documents the ancient serene stone mining and processing activity. It consists of three sections, dedicated to the mining tecniques, the production of daily tools and the artistic manufacture.
