Tourism in Palazzuolo sul Senio

The Medieval village of Palazzuolo sul Senio

Entered the residential area of Palazzuolo sul Senio, a group of squares rises hosting the fourteenth-century Captains' Palace along the right bank of the Senio torrent. The Palace is a particularly interesting building erected in 1387. The palace still saves on its facade numerous noble ensigns dating back to the Middle Ages and an inscription testifying the passing through Palazzuolo sul Senio of the Pope Giulio II and Niccolò Machiavelli (1469-1527).

Today the halls of the Captains' Palace host the "Peasant and Artisan civilizations Museum", where it is possible to admire a collection of both ancient and modern agricultural tools and machines.

The most important religious building is the Saint Stephen Parish, preceded by a fine porch, whose inside it is possible to admire numerous paintings like an "Our Lady with the Child and Saints", by probable Florentine manufacture, a plate painted by the Master of Marrani and two eighteenth-century paintings by Jacopo Confortini (1602-1672).

Very interesting is also the Saint Mary of the Snow of Quadalto, whose inside is divided into three aisles and saves numerous paintings, an eighteenth-century organ and also a suggestive "Our Lady", considered capable of miraculous virtues.
