The Saint Salvatore in Settimo Abbey in Scandicci

The Saint Salvatore in Settimo Abbey was built on the second half of the tenth century and later it was fortified by building a ring of walls alternated with towers, whose remains are still visible today.

The facade of the Abbey shows some frames of earthenware and a great middle hole.

The Abbey has three Roman aisles covered by trusses.

Inside the Abbey there is a suggestive crypt where are saved two valuable lockets by Domenico Ghirlandaio (1449-1494) and a fine tabernacle built by Giuliano da Maiano (1432-1490).
