The Vicars' Palace in Scarperia

The Vicars' Palace was built on a design by Arnolfo di Cambio and it represents the greatest sign of the Florentine power in the area of the Mugello. By the palace rises a big tower.

The facade of the palace shows several stone and earthenware made ensigns, representing all vicars who took in turn the control of Scarperia.

Walking through the opening corridor to the palace it is possible to admire fine frescoes on the lateral walls portraying some ensigns and two fifteenth-century frescoes portraying "Saint Thomas' Incredulity" and "Our Lady on The throne and Some Saints".

The rooms on the first floor, hosting today the Municipality's offices, are rich of fine sixteenth-century frescoes portraying "Our Lady and the Child and the Saints John Baptist, Domenico and John Evangelist", whereas the doors are surmounted by some frescoes painted by Bartolomeo di Giovanni.
