The Saint Nicholas Parish in Capalbio

The Saint Nicholas Parish rises in the most ancient part of Capalbio, where today are still visible the characteristic Medieval features of the town.

The Saint Nicholas Parish, placed at the main square of Capalbio, was built around XII-th century following the Romanic style and in 1466 its facade was restored.

The belfry, built on a mullioned window with two lights, is probably the oldest element of the religious building.

The interiors are decorated with suggestive fourteenth-century frescoes by painters belonging to the schools of Umbria and Siena.

Inside the parish is also possible to admire six lateral chapels showing Roman capitals enchased with some decorations.
