Tourism in Montieri

The Medieval village of Montieri

The village of Montieri is characterized by an irregular urban plant, that is typical of the mountains settlements of Medieval origin.

The village still saves today the reamins of the ancient Medieval fortifications, like an ancient tower that is today the belltower of the fourteenth-century Saint Paul and Michael Parish, whose inside it is possible to admire a baptismal font made by the remains of a capital.

The holdest part of the village ends in a fortress, the highest part of a castle, showing on its facade two portals, one of them equipped with a pointed arch whereas the other one is a rounded arch.

Close to the historic centre of Montieri rise the Saint Francis Church, dating back to the XVI-th century, whose inside hosts a font made by the remains of a thirteenth-century capital, and the Saint Giacono Church, built in the XIII-th century in Romanic style.
