The Medieval village of Semproniano

The village of Semproniano is still today characterized by the ancient marks of its original building.

Its historic centre is very suggestive thanks to the typical rural houses dating back to the Middle Ages, rising along ancient stone-made paved paths.

The oldest part of Semproniano is gathered around the ancient Aldobrandeschi's Fortress. In the middle of the village rises the Holy Cross Church, whose inside it is possible to admire some fine art works, like a seventeenth-century painting portraying a "Pity", an ancient wooden Crucifix and a travertine-made fount.

Very interesting is also the Romanic parish, being this latter built around the X-th century by the Aldobrandeschi's Counts probably represents the oldest building of the town. Inside it is possible to admire a fount dating back to the XV-th century and a painting portraying an "Our Lady of the Rosary", painted by Francesco Vanni (1563-1610).
