The Medieval village of Sorano The Medieval village of Sorano still saves the characteristic features of its original buildings, both in its tufaceous houses and in its narrow roads and stone-made staircases. The Medieval village of Sorano develops between the fourteenth-century "Orsini's Fortress" and the "Leopoldino Rock". The oldest part of the village rises along the Leopoldino Rock's feet. Inside the Orsini's Fortress it is possible to admire a cycle of sixteenth-century frescoes coming from a Siena's workshop. Two bastions imposed on the village: one of them, called "Saint Peter's Bastion", is placed on the west, whereas the other one is called "Saint Mark's Bastion". The two bastions are joined toghether by the ring of walls that, in the middle part, had an entrance gate to the village surmounted by a noble ensign.
