The Medieval village of Campiglia Marittima Today the Medieval village of Campiglia Marittima appears within the remains of its ancient ring of walls, at the feet of the "Gherardesca's Castle" that was erected around the XI-th century in a higher position above the village. The houses and the narrow and twisting pathways save the characteristic features of their original buildings even today.

The Medieval village of Campiglia Marittima is also surrounded by a thick vegetation. Its Medieval charm combines with the beauty of its natural landscape originating a perfect harmony. In the very heart of the historic centre rose numerous noble buildings dating back to the Medici's Age. Very interesting are also those building placed outside the walls, like the ancient "Saint John Parish" showing Gothic and Romanic architectural features and whose inside it is possible to see some ancient inscriptions.
