The Medieval village of Rio nell'Elba
The territory of Rio nell'Elba is dipped into a rich vegetation, among which numerous Medieval buildings rise, saving the characteristic features of their original building and defensive function. Among them the so called "Jove's Tower", whose building goes back to the XV-th century, distinguishes.
The village of Rio nell'Elba gathers around the Saints Giacomo and Quirico Church, built during the XIV-th century and restored during the next century in its actual Baroque features.
In the very heart of the historic centre there is the "Archaeological Museum of the Elba's Mineral District", to whose inside the mineral history of the isle is illustrated. Inside the museum it is also possible to see numerous archaeological finds came to light in the territory and dating back from the Copper Age to the Middle Ages.
