The Estensi's Fortress in Camporgiano

Although the Fortress has the name of the Estensi'family , according to some historians its building probably goes back to more ancient times.

It is supposed that the fortified structure took the name of the Estensi's family because this latter executed, during the XV-th century, the last restoration works.

Along the centuries the Fortress subdued considerable damages. During a restoration some internal cavities were discovered inside its walls. Those cavities probably hosted the inhabitants and protect them during the attacks.

The Estensi's Fortress saves still today its original building, on whose base today rises a wonderful residential villa.

Inside one of the numerous rooms of the fortress is located the "Civic Collection of Renaissance Ceramics" that collects ceramics and earthenwares dating back to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance Age.
