The Saint Mary Parish in Cascina

The Saint Mary Parish represents the most ancient religious building of the town, being built during the Early Middle Ages.

The facade of the parish is equipped with blind arches and on it the main portal opens.

The interior shows both Romanic and Pisan styles.

It is built on the plant of a basilica with three aisles divided by columns, equipped this latter with finely decorated capitals.

The Saint Mary Parish saves numerous valuable art works like a fourteenth-century fresco painted by a Pisan artista, portraying an "Our Lady with the Child", a fount dating back to the XII-th century and a sixteenth-century earthenware portraying an "Our Lady with the Child".

From the left aisle it is also possible to enter, by a staircase, in the Holiest Sacrament Chapel, whose inside, showing the Baroque style, it is possible to admire an eighteenth-century painting portraying the "Saint Catherine's Miracle".
