The Medieval village of Lajatico

The village of Lajatico is rich of very artistic and historic fascinating Medieval buildings that save still today the aspect of their original building.

Among the religious buildings of the town distinguishes the Saint Leonard Church, whose building goes back to the XIII-th century. During the XIX-th century it was restored and modified according to its actual aspect. Along a side of the religious building a bell tower rises, equipped with four bells.

Interesting to see are also the Praetorian Palace and the Civic Tower, being this latter built during the XIV-th century. The Praetorian Palace was built during the XIII-th century and it shows on its facade the noble ensigns of the families that lived there and also those ones representing the Camaldolesi moks, who lived there when the palace hosted their convent.
