The Castle of Lari

The village of Lari still shows today the typical marks of a Medieval fortified village, saving a part of its ancient ring of walls and the ancient castle of Medieval origin.

The entrance of the Castle of Lari is preceded by a staircase consisting of ninety-five steps, whose middle there is a tank showing the ensigns of some Vicars of Lari. From the staircase it is possible to enter to a large courtyard, on which rises the so called Castle's Church.

On the left side of the church there are some rooms that once hosted the castle's prisons, whereas in front of the church it is possible to admire the Chancellors' Palace, on whose facade there are the ensigns of the chancellors who succeeded in their function.

In the middle of the Castle there is another tank that once picked the raining water up flowing from the roofs of the castle's surrounding palaces. Interesting to see is also the facade of the Vicars' Palace, decorated with ensigns too.
