The Medieval village of Montecatini Val di Cecina The village of Montecatini Val di Cecina shows a urban plant of typical castle's origin, whose top there the Castle built by the Belforti's family, equipped with a high tower. Once entered to the town, it is possible to reach the Castle's Square, on which rise the fourteenth-century Praetorian Palace and the Saint Biagio Church, being also this latter built during the XIV-th century. The religious building is equipped with a fine belfry with a watch.
Foto Wikipedia The Praetorian Palace shows a fine facade rich of decorations and preceded by a porch surmounted by round arches, held by Ionic capitals. In the rooms of the Praetorian Palace is located the "Museum of the Mines" that documents the richness of mineral resources of the territory and also the phase of mineral manufacturing.
