Tourism in Marliana

The Medieval village of Marliana

The village of Marliana saves today just few traces of its ancient Medieval fortifications, like the remains of its ancient ring of walls and the gate of a castle.

In the very heart of the historic centre of Marliana it is possible to visit the fourteenth-century Saint Nicholas Church, whose inside it is possible to admire numerous paintings dating back to the XVIII-th century and some fine Della Robbia's earthenwares dating back to the XVI-th century.

Interesting religious builndings are visitable close to the very heart of Marliana: the Saint Michael Archangel, built before the XIII-th century, whose actual aspect is the result of a rebuilding execuited during the XVIII-th century, and the Parish of Serra showing the typical features of its original Romanic building, equipped with a belfry coming from an ancient gate-tower.
