The Saint Mary of the Assumption Cathedral of Pescia The Saint Mary of the Assumption Cathedral was built at the end of seventeenth-century on the same place where once rose the ancient Saint Mary Parish. From the ancient building is still possible to see just a forteenth-century belfry that shows Roman and Gothic features. In the ninenteenth century was added to the cathedral a facade built by Giuseppe Castellucci. The interior of the cathedral, a single aisle one, is rich of decorations and frescoes.

Once entered to the cathedral it is possibile to see a stoup dating back to 1504. On the right side it is placed a tombstone built by Raffaello da Montelupo (1504-1566) in the honour of Baldassare Turrini, whereas on the left side there is a chapel whose inside it is possibile to see an eighteenth-century statue portraying Our Lady of the Rosary. On the main altar, built in 1698, it is possible to admire a fresco painted by Luigi Garzi (1638-1721) portraying an Assumption. The sacristy saves a painting by Anton Domenico Gabbiani (1652-1726) portraying Saint Lorenz's martyrdom and some wooden tables carved in 1476. Walking towards the place where rise the belfry it is possible to see the Cappella del Vescovado (Bishop's Chapel) whose inside it is possible to admire some statues built by Luca della Robbia (1400-1482) portraying an Our Lady with the Child and the Saints Jacopo and Biagio, and a forteenth-century transom portraying an Annunciation.
