The Cathedral of Pienza

The Cathedral was built in 1459 on a pre-existing religious building.

The building shows both typical Medieval and Gothic features. The travertine-made facade shows three portals and three pillars that are supported by columns dividing the facade in three parts.

By the left side of the Cathedral rises an optagonal shape travertine-made belfry.

The interior has three aisles divided by pillars surmounted by capitals that show some dosserets (elements decorated with animal or floreal patterns, that are typical of the Byzantine style).
