The Saint Lucchese Church in Poggibonsi

The Saint Lucchese Church was built at the end of the twelfth century and in 1300 it was restored and enlarged by building a convent.

From the ancient Roman building can be seen even today the facade preceded by a little fine porch.

The interiors of the church show both Gothic and Franciscan style.

The Saint Lucchese Church shows only one aisle with uncovered roof beams.

Inside the church there are several frescoes. On the high part of the right wall it is possible to admire "Our Lady with the Child and Saints" and on the lower part of the right wall the "Saint Andrew's Martyrdom" painted by Bartolo di Fredi (1330-1410).

Inside it is also possible to see the Saint Lucchese's Chapel and over the arch chapel were painted in 1388 by Cennino Cennini some Saint Stefano's stories.

Inside the sacristy there are the remains of a cupboard showing seventeen pierced pictures portraying the apostles and some saints, built by Memmo di Filippuccio.

Inside the convent the refectory saves a fresco dating back to 1513 portraying the "Multiply of Breads", painted by Gerino da Pistoia.
