Tourism in Caprese Michelangelo

The Medieval village of Caprese Michelangelo

At the entrance of the town there is the fine fourteenth-century Podestà's House that shows on its facade numerous ensigns.

The Podestà's House is the native house of Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564) who there was born when his father Lodovico was a Podestà.

Today in the rooms of the Podestà's House is located the "Michelangelo's Museum", whose inside saves plaster-made impressions and graphic copies of the main Michelangelo's art works.

Close to the Podestà's House there are the remains of the fourteenth-century Castle, also hosting plaster-made impressions of Michelangelo's works, sculptures made by modern artists and bronzy-made sculptures by artists like Antonio Berti, Pericle Fazzini (1913-1987) and Emilio Greco (1913-1995).

Very interesting is also the Saint John Baptist Church that rises close to the Castle's walls.

The religious building was built in the XIII-th century and restored during the next centuries. In the Saint John Baptist Church Michelangelo Buonarroti was baptized.
