The Medieval village of Castel San Niccolò The village of Castel San Niccolò shows still today the typical features of its original buildings. Among them distinguishes the castle, built during the XIII-th century by the Guidi's Counts and that later became a Florentine Podestà's seat. It consists of an imposing fortress equipped with a sighting tower and it is decorated with two windows and a fine portal, showing this latter the typical Gothic style.

From the fortress it is possible to enjoy a wonderful sight on the Casentino area. The ancient ring of walls of the castle was destroyed along the centuries but today it is still possible to admire it thanks to the numerous restoration works carried on. In the very heart of the historic centre of Castel San Niccolò it is also possible to admire the Crucifix Chapel that saves a fine fifteenth-century fresco portraying an "Our Lady and Saint John".
