The Cathedral of Cortona

The Cathedral was built at the end of the fifteenth century on the same place where first rose an ancient Roman parish entitled to Saint Mary. The facade of the Cathedral still shows some traces of the original building.

On the right side of the building it is possible to admire a sixteenth-century porch and a portal made by Cristofanello.

The belfry was added to the Cathedral in the sixteenth century by the architect Francesco Laparelli (1521-1570).
