The Collegiate Church of Lucignano

The Collegiate Church of Lucignano, entitled to Saint Michael Archangel, rises in the very heart of the historic centre at the top of a large staircase. It was built during the last years of the XVI-th century following a design of Orazio Porta.

The interior of the Collegiate Church has just an aisle and collects fine art works. Among them, eight golden wooden statues portraying angels that were carved in 1706 by Giosafat Zaneboni and placed among the altars and in the presbytery.

On the altar of the right transept it is possible to admire a painting by Giacinto Gemignani (1611-1681) portraying "Saint Bartholomew while showing a crucifix to a woman". On the altars of the left transept there are a "Visitation" by Matteo Rosselli (1578-1650) and the "Saint Lucy's Martyrdom" by Giacinto Gemignani (1611-1681).

Along the left side opens the Crucifix Chapel, whose inside it is possible to admire some frescoes painted by Luigi Ademollo (1764-1849) and a fine wooden Crucifix place on the altar.
