The Medieval village of Pieve Santo Stefano The village of Pieve Santo Stefano saves just few traces of its secular history because of a violent earthquake occurred on 1944 that destroyed its residential centre. Once arrived to Pieve Santo Stefano, it is possible to reach the Our Lady of the Lights Church, built between the end of the XVI-th century and the beginning of the next century. The interior, on a plant of a Greek cross, shows an entirely painted dome by Luigi Ademollo (1764-1849) and valuable paintings painted by Florentine artists.
Photo Wikipedia Entered the very heart of the urban centre it is possible to reach the Praetorian Palace and the Municipal Palace, both showing on their facades numerous earth and stone made noble ensigns. Inside the Municipal Palace is also possible to admire a glazed earthenware made jointly by Girolamo della Robbia (1488-1566) and Luca della Robbia called "the Young"(1475-1548) portraying the "Samaritan". Very interesting is also the Saint Stephen Collegiate Church, whose inside, on the plant of a Latin cross, it is possible to admire a glazed earth-made dossal portraying an "Assumption and Saints", made by Andrea della Robbia (1435-1525).
