The Cathedral of Sansepolcro

The Cathedral, entitled to Saint John Evangelis, was built around the XI-th century and restored many times during the next centuries.

By the ancient building remains just few traces. The facade appears in its original features thanks to the restoring works that reproduced its original structure.

The interior of the Cathedral has three aisles with Romanic and Gothic columns.

On the main altar it is possible to see a polyptych painted in the XIV-th century by Francesco di Segna and portraying the "Resurrection".

Inside a chapel placed on the left side of the presbytery is saved a precious wooden work portraying the "Holy Face" dating back to the VIII-IX-th centuries.
