Tourism in Sestino

The Medieval village of Sestino

The village of Sestino is dominated by the Saint Pancrazio parish, built on an elevated position bewteen the IX-th and XI-th century.

The religious building was restored and modified along the centuries but it saves still today the characteristic elements of its original building. Inside the parish it is possible to admire some valuable art works, among them a painted Cross dating back to the XIV-th century made by an artist coming from Rimini.

Interesting to visit is also the crypt, being this latter held by just a column showing a decorated capital. It is supposed that the capital goes back to the Byzantine period and the parish was founded on a pre-existing ancient Christian religious building.

Inside the Antiquarium it is possible to admire a collection of tombstones and statues dating back to the period of Roman colonization and also a copy of a Roman temple dating back to the Augustan Age.
