The Medieval village of Terranuova Bracciolini

The Medieval village of Terranuova Bracciolini shows the typical plant of the ancient Roman "castrum" (military settlement): the village has two main hortogonal roads whose intersecting forms the main square of the town.

Once Terranuova Bracciolini was surrounded by an imposing ring of walls, of which it is possible to see toady just few remains incorporated within the village houses.

The ancient four gates that once gave the access to the town are not visible today. They were demolished in order to allow the urbanization process occurred on the last centuries.

On the main square rises the Saint Mary Archpriesthood, a particularly interesting building saving a polycrome earthenware portraying a "Pity", probably coming from the workshop of Giovanni della Robbia (1469-1529) and also numerous valuable paintings portraying Byblical pictures, dating back to the XVII-XVIIIth century.

Close the heart of the historic centre there is the Saint Biagio at Moors Church, whose inside was painted between the XIV-th and the XV-th century by numerous local artists or coming from the close towns.
