The Saint Mary Church in Campi Bisenzio

The Saint Mary Church was built in XIII century and restored during the next centuries.

It was regarded to an important restoring place for people who made a pilgrimage to the Cathedral of Santiago di Compostela.


The interior of the church shows two aisles and it is rich of fine decorations and several art works made by different artists.

Inside the church it is possible to admire many fourteenth and fifteenth centuries frescoes such as those ones made in 1466 by Giusto Andrea portraying the Saints Antonio, Japoco and Egidio and also a paint portraying Our Lady with the Child.

Other fine art works are a fourteenth-century Christ in pity placed on the first altar and a marble-and-earthen-made tabernacle by Luca della Robbia (1400-1482).

By a lateral door, walking through a passageway, it is possible to enter a garden dating back to the fourteenth century.
