The Medieval village of Incisa in Val d'Arno

The village of Incisa in Val d'Arno rises in a hilly position, saving the characteristic features of its Medieval buildings still visible in the highest part of the village, that is also the oldest one. Here rises the house of the family of the famous poet Francesco Petrarca, who was born in Arezzo but lived in Incisa in Val d'Arno until he was seven years old.

At the entrance of the Medieval village rises the Saints Cosma and Damiano Church, built during the XVI-th century for the will of the "Franciscan Minori" order, on the place where once a pre-existing convent rose.

The religious building is preeceded by a fine porch and inside it is possible to admire numerous art works, among them distinguishes a policrome earthenware made by Buggiano according to a design of Luca della Robbia (1400-1482).

Going donwhill it is possible to reach the Saint Alexander Parish, built during the XIX-th century, whose inside saves three parts of a polyptych painted by Andrea Giusto, portraying an "Our Lady with the Child", a "Saint Michael Archangel" and a "Saint John Evangelist".
