The Saint Cassiano Collegiate Church in San Casciano in Val di Pesa

Once arrived to San Casciano in Val di Pesa it is possible to reach the Saint Cassiano Collegiate Church by passing along one of the main roads, along which the village develops, and reaching the main square of the historic centre, the "Piazza Orazio Pierozzi".

The Saint Cassiano Collegiate Church was built at the end of the XVIII-th century on the same place on which once a provostship church rose.

At the entrance of the Collegiate Church it is possible to admire, on the main portal, a painted lunette and a stone-made baptismal font.

The interior has three aisles and is rich of fine paintings, among them distinguishes that one placed on the first altar on the right, portraying "Saint Carlo Borromeo".

Interesting are also the all frescoes and painting places along the left aisle, like an "Our Lady with the Child", an "Annunciation" by Paolino da Pistoia, a "Holy Family" and an "Magnification of the Cross", both of this latter go back to the XVII-th century.

On the main altar it is also possible to admire a fine wooden Crucifix coming from the workshop of Baccio da Montelupo (1469-1535).
