The Medieval village of Vicchio The most ancient settlement of the town formed during the Middle Ages and today it is still surrounded by its fourteenth-century ring of walls. The village develops along the main road Corso del Popolo (People Avenue), that once joined the two gates of the town. The most important buildings rise in the main square, like the ancient Praetorian Palace and the Saint John Baptist Church, being this last one preceded by a fine Reinassance porch.

The interior of the Saint John Baptist is built on the plant of a Greek cross and it is rich of valuable paintings like an "Our Lady of the Rosary" attributed to the Florentine painter Alessandro Fei called the "Barber" (1543-1592) and an "Our Lady with the Child and the Saints John Baptist and Sebastian". Very interesting is also the "Angelic Blessed" Museum that hosts many art works coming from the religious buildings of the surroundings, like an "Annunciation" by Francesco Furini (1600-1646), a chest portraying "Saint John Baptist" by Della Robbia's workshop and a painting by Jacopo da Empoli (1551-1640) portraying a "Holy Family with Saint Elizabeth". Close to the village of Vicchio rises the Giotto's native house whose inside it is possible to admire a collection of documents and witnesses about the artist's life.
