The Medieval village of Cinigiano

The village of Cinigiano saves still today some traces of its ancient Medieval buildings, like the remains of a fortress that once was a part of a Medieval castle built in Cinigiano by the Aldobrandeschi's Counts.

Of the ancient fortifications the remains of the walls surrounding the village are still visible.

The walls were equipped with towers and gates to defend the village from hostile sieges.

Very interesting to visit are two ancient religious buildings: the Saint Michael Archangel Parish and the Saint Mary of the Snows Church.

The first one was erected during the XVI-th century whereas the other one during the XV-th century.

The Saint Michael Archangel Parish saves a picture portraying an "Our Lady with the Child" painted in 1693 by Daniele Lonati and another one portraying the "Crucifixion", painted by Francesco Vanni (1563-1610).
