The Medieval village of Monterotondo Marittimo

The village of Monterotondo Marittimo represents a typical example of Medieval village that still saves numerous buildings testifying its ancient origin, among them the remains of the castle built during the XII-th century by the Alberti's Counts.

From the village of Monterotondo Marittimo it is also possible to enjoy wonderful sight on the surrounding territory.

Interesting to visit are also the Holy Cross Church, a Romanic building built during the XIII-th century, and the remains of the Porsenna's Thermal Baths, active during the VIII-th century.

Close to the village rises the "Park of the Biancane". Walking along some natural paths, characterized by some geological and climate particularities, it is possible to observe some natural phenomenons of volcanism, like the solfataras, the fumarole and the boric acid fumaroles, and some rare vegetable species.
