Tourism in Seggiano

The Medieval village of Seggiano

Seggiano is surrounded by green hills covered by olive-trees and much other vegetation.

Once arrived in Seggiano it is possible to see the suggestive Our Lady of the Charity Sanctuary, whose building goes back to the XVI-th century. It shows a facade rich of decoration and a dome covered by earthen.

Once entered the village it is possible to reach the Saint Rocco Church, built at the end of the XV-th century. The interior saves fine frescoes painted by Girolamo di Domenico.

The most ancient religious building is the Saint Bartolomeo Church, built along the Middle Ages and restored in the XIX-th century. It hosts a polyptych painted by Bartolomeo Bulgarini from Siena, portraying an "Our Lady on the Throne with the Child and the Saints Bartolomeo, Michael and John Evangelist".

Very interesting is also the Potentino Castle, placed close to the town. Once the castle was used as a sighthing tower whereas today it show the feature of a palace in Reinassance style, equipped with towers.
