The Medieval village of Gallicano The Medieval village of Gallicano formed on the highest of the hill dominating the Serchio river, inside a ring of walls surrounded by terraced lands and vineyards. The ring of walls is formed by an ancient part that was erected inside the village during the Middle Ages, and a part erected in the Renascence that surrounds the whole village. The urban plane shows a particular composition of concentric rings, caused by the phases of the urban expansion. Today is still possible to see the monumental gate that allows to enter to the town of Gallicano. Once entered the village it is possible to get to the "Saint Jacopo Parish", that is the most ancient civic building. The Saint Jacopo Parish was built during the Middle Ages and today it is still possible to see its Romanic facade. The parish saves a valuable glass earthenware portraying "Our Lady with the Child and Saints" coming from the Della Robbia's workshop.
