The Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish in Stazzema The Romanic Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish rises close to the entrance of the town of Stazzema. On its facade it is possible to see a fine rose-window and the remains of some ancient sculptures surmounting the main portal. The interior has three aisles divided by columns showing Gothic and Renaissance capitals and a coffered ceiling. Within a niche placed along the right aisle there is a fine statue made by Matteo Civitali (1436-1502) portraying a "Saint Anthony Abbot", whereas in the apse it is possible to admire a plate portraying an "Our Lady among Angels, Saints and Apostles", painted by Pietro da Talada. Very interesting is also the sixteenth-century bass-relief of the baptismal font, portraying a "Jesus' Baptism". Close to the Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish there is the Canonica, on whose facade it is possible to admire a bass-relief in the shape of a medallion made by Francesco Riccomanni (XV-th century).
