Tourism in Vergemoli

The Medieval village of Vergemoli

The village of Vergemoli rises along a plain area characterized by wonderful natural landscapes. Across the territory it is possible to see numerous examples of Medieval buildings, showing the untouched characteristic marks of their original building.

In the very heart of the historic centre of Vergemoli it is possible to admire several elegant noble palaces, dating back to the XVI-th century and showing their finely decorated portals.

Very interesting is also the Romanic Saints Quirico and Giuditta Church, restored during the first middle of the XVII-th century. Close to the religious building there is the so called "Bernarda Fountain", a fine sculpture coming from the remains of another fountain and showing a child's picture.

Interesting to visit is also the little Saint Anthony Church, built in an elevated position dominating the whole town and preceded by an elegant porch.

Particularly suggestive is the visit to the "Cave of the Wind", taking part to the "Natural Park of the Apuane Alps". Inside the cave it is possible to take some natural paths, through which it is possible to discover the wonders of the underground world and observe the wonderful natural phenomena taking place inside the above-mentioned cave, like the formation of stalactites, stalagmites and crystals, the erosion and the policrome flows.
