The Medieval village of Monteverdi Marittimo

The village of Monteverdi Marittimo still saves today its Medieval aspect, thanks to the numerous buildings that enrich its territory, among them the Castle of Monteverdi distinguishes. This latter, built during the Early Middle Ages, shows a circular shape and saves the typical features of its original building.

In the very heart of the historic centre of Monteverdi Marittimo rise the Saint Andrew Church, built during the XIV-th century with a stone-made facade and Della Robbia's policrome earth-made decorations, and the Holiest Sacrament Oratory, whose inside it is possible to admire a wooden Crucifix dating back to the XV-th century.

Close to the village there are the ruins of the Saint Peter Abbey in Palazzuolo, of which it is possible to see the essential structure of the religious building, consisting of a part of the external walls, the apse zone, the choister and the bell tower.
