The Saint John Baptist Parish in Montemurlo

The Saint John Baptist Parish was built around the XII-th century and in a first time it was entitled to Saint Peter. When the religious building was elevated to the rank of Parish, it was entitled to Saint John Baptist.

The facade is led by a fine porch held up by brick-made pillars.

On the right side of the building there is the entrance to the garden, from where rises a big belfry in late-gothic style dating back to the XV-th century.

Inside the Saint John Baptist Parish it is possible to admire valuable paintings among them "Our Lady of the Rosary" by Matteo Rosselli (1578-1650), the "Assumption" by Giovanni Stradano and "Our Lady with the Child and Saints" by Francesco Granacci (1469-1543).

In the two sides of the presbytery there are the Baptisteery, whose inside is a painting by Naldini, and the Oratory of the Company of the Corpus Domini that was restored in 1776.
