Tourism in Cutigliano

The Medieval village of Cutigliano

The village of Cutigliano rises in a rich wood vegetation and offers the opportunity to take some naturalistic paths and to enjoy wonderful sights on the valley below.

Once entered the town it is possible to reach the Saint Bartholomew Church that, during the centuries, was restored and modified.

The interior of the church has three aisles and it is rich of fine paintings like an "Our Lady of the Carmine" by Onorio Marinari (1627-1715) and an "Our Lady of the Rosary" attributed to Matteo Rosselli (1578-1650).

The presbytery of the Saint Bartholomew Church hosts fine painting like a "Saint Bartholomew while making free an possessed person" painted by Sebastiano Vini (1525-1602), a "Crucifixion" by Giovanni da San Giovanni and an "Our Lady's Nativity" painted by Nicodemo Ferrucci (1574-1650), being this latter placed between two earth-made sculptures portraying the "Annunciation", coming from the painter Sansovino's workshop.

In the heart of the historic centre of Cutigliano rises the Praetorian Palace showing on its facade numerous captains' ensigns. Very interesting are also the glazed earth-made ensigns coming from the Della Robbia's workshop and dating back to the XVI-th century.

Close to the Praetorian Palace there is the Popular Our Lady Church, built during the XV-th century.

Among the numerous art works saving inside the church, the most important is a fine glazed earth-made tabernacle made by Benedetto Buglioni (1459-1521).
