It was probably built during the Early Middle Ages, equipped with a Romanic belfry, and restored during the Renaissance.

The church saves inside some valuable art works, like an "Our Lady with the Child", coming from the Della Robbia's school, a "Deposition of the Cross" by Sebastiano Vini and, inside the sacristy, some fifteenth-century carved furnishings and a wooden statue dating back to the XIII-th century and portraying an "Our Lady".
