The Màgia's Villa of Quarrata

The Màgia's Villa was built during the sixteenth century for the will of the Grand Duke Francesco I of Medici by Bernardo Buontalenti (1536-1608) on a little pre-existing fortress as a country residence.

The building, preceded by wide porchs, was painted in 1715 in the Baroque style by Gian Domenico Ferretti (1702-1774) and it was also furnished of a large garden.

The villa also has an artifial lake, close to the building, that was built on a design by Bernardo Buontalenti (1536-1608).

At that time the Màgia's Villa had an important role as a support for the hunts held in the surrounding territory.

Between 1708 and 1716 was also built a chapel and the villa was restored and furnished of a fountain.

The Màgia's Villa is open to the public on first Saturday of each month.
