The Medieval village of Serravalle Pistoiese The village of Serravalle Pistoiese is a typical example of Medieval building. It develops in a longitudinal way around a main square, on which the Parish Church rises. At the two opposite ends of the village it is possible to see the reamins of the two ancient fortification, the "Old Fortress" and the "New Fortress": this latter saves today just the Barbarossa's Tower. The Saint Michael Church and the Saint Stephen Church both rise in an elevated position.

The second one, built during the XIII-th century, is equipped with a bell tower coming from an ancient fortification. The Saint Michael Church, built between the XIII-th and XIV-th century, saves some fine art works like a tryptich portraying an "Our Lady with the Child, Saints, Blessed God and Annunciation", placed in the presbitery and painted by Bartolomeo di Andrea Bocchi, a fourteenth-century fresco portraying "Saint Biagio making a kid free from a fish bone" and some interesting plates dating back to the XVI-th century.
