Back to the town of Uzzano

Tourism in Uzzano

The Medieval village of Uzzano

The town of Uzzano is considered one of the most example of Italian Medieval villages in the Valdinievole area, by saving almost intact most of its ancient buildings.

Very interesting is the Saints Jacopo and Martin Parish, erected at the beginning of the XIII-th century and whose inside saves fine art works like a fount dating back to the XIII-th century, a Crucifix dating back around the XIV-th century and a painting by Alessio Gimignani (1567-1651) portraying the "Our Lady's Wedding".

On the main square of the town rises the People's Captain Palace, whose building goes back to the XIII-th century by the action of the Republic of Florence. The palace was first Podestà'a seat and then seat of the Municipal offices until 1773.

In the last centuries the People's Captain Palace subdued numerous restoration works that restored its original thirteenth-century features.
