Tourism in San Giovanni d`Asso

The Medieval village of San Giovanni d'Asso

The village of San Giovanni d'Asso gathers around a castle placed on a high position, dominating the valley below. This urban part is called "Borghetto" and represents the oldest one of the village.

The Castle of San Giovanni d'Asso was built during the Middle Ages and shows still today its original Gothic aspect. Inside it is possible to admire a chimeny and a fine stone-made washbasin, both of them dating back to the XV-th century.

In the vaults of the castle is located the "Truffle's Museum", in which it is possible both to admire different samples of fine truffles and to know the history about this deliciouness.

Going downhill it is possible to reach the Saint Peter in Villore Church, whose building occurred between the XI-th and XII-th century. The religious building shows a Romanic facade and inside it is possible to admire a crypt equipped with three aisle.
